- After handily winning the American Idol competition, and while in the process of recording her debut album "Some Hearts", she found time to return to college at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah OK, graduating magna cum laude in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in mass communication and an emphasis in journalism

" has been certified septuple platinum, making it the fastest selling country album in the history of the current charts
- It is also the best selling album by a female country artist in history, no small feat considering the phenomenal success of artists such as Shania Twain
- The album debuted on the Billboard 200 Albums chart at #2 and remained on the chart for an astonishing 136 weeks
- Needless to say the album was also #1 on the Billboard Country Album chart
- The song "Before He Cheats" was the 5th song to be released as a single from the album
- Even before the song was released as a single country music stations had started playing it, leading to it's entry onto the Billboard Country Singles Chart at #59
- It quickly climbed the charts following the official release of the single, and it soon moved into the #1 slot where it would remain for five weeks
- Interestingly enough, as the single began to descend on the country music charts, Top 40 stations began to play the song, and it began a rise on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart
- The song was to peak at #8 after an incredible 38 weeks on the chart, making it the longest time ever for a song to reach the top 10 following it's entry onto the chart
- Altogether the song spent a total of 64 weeks on the chart before dropping off, making it the third longest charting single of all time
- The song was the single of the year at the Country Music Association (CMA) awards for 2007
- At the 2008 Grammy awards Before He Cheats won the Grammy for Best Country Song as well as for Best Female Country Vocal Performance
- The reference to "bathroom Polo" refers to the vending machines in the men's room of some bars that dispense some cologne of what most consider to be questionable quality and fragrance
- In 2008 Underwood was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, and became that organization's youngest current member at the age of only 25
