- Written by singer-songwriter Shakira
(born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, 2/2/77, in Barranquilla, Colombia)

        - Shakira burst onto the US musical scene in 2001 with
what was essentially her third studio album, "Laundry Service

"
        - She got her start in Columbia with her first studio
album at the age of 13

		- Poor management and a desire to complete her
schooling held back her career until after she graduated, which was most
likely a very good thing considering the success she has enjoyed since
		then

		- A believer in giving back to those less fortunate,
Shakira has helped raise millions for charitable causes worldwide, and
has contributed a hefty amount of her own money as well

		- In an interesting sidenote, in 2007 Shakira audited a
class at UCLA called "Introduction to Western Civilization: Ancient
Civilizations from Prehistory to Circa A.D. 843."  Neither the
professor nor any of the students had any clue they had a celebrity in
		their midst

		- She was taking the class to improve her understanding
		of the countries she visits

		- The album Laundry Service was Shakira's first English
album, and it was released in December of 2001

		- The album climbed to #3 on the Billboard Albums chart
		in 2002

		- Whenever Wherever was the first single to be released
from the album, and it reached a very healthy #6 position on the
Billboard US Hot 100 chart in 2002

		- The song's success wasn't limited to the Hot 100
chart though, reaching the following positions:
			-  Hot Latin Tracks - #1

			- Latin Pop Airplay - #1

			-  Hot Dance Club Play - #3

			- Top 40 Tracks - #4

		- Internationally the song became the biggest hit of
		the year for 2002

		- It reached #1 in no less than two dozen European
countries, and did equally well in South America

    	Song Lyrics - Whenever Wherever
Lucky you were born that far away so,
We could both make fun of distance.
Lucky that I love a foreign land for,
The lucky fact of your existence
Baby I would climb the Andes solely,
To count the freckles on your body.
Never could imagine there were only,
Ten million ways to love somebody.
Le do le le le le, Le do le le le le
		Can't you see,
		I'm at your feet
		Whenever, wherever,
		We're meant to be together
I'll be there and you'll be near,
And that's the deal my dear
		Thereover, hereunder,
		You'll never have to wonder.
We can always play by ear,
But that's the deal my dear
Lucky that my lips not only mumble,
They spill kisses like a fountain
Lucky that my breasts are small and humble,
So you don't confuse them with mountains.
Lucky I have strong legs like my mother,
To run for cover when I need it
And these two eyes that for no other,
The day you leave will cry a river
Le do le le le le, Le do le le le le
		Can't you see,
		I'm at your feet
		Whenever, wherever,
		We're meant to be together
I'll be there and you'll be near,
And that's the deal my dear
		Thereover, hereunder,
		You'll never have to wonder.
We can always play by ear,
But that's the deal my dear.
Le do le le le le, Le do le le le le.
		Think out loud,
		Say it again.
Le do le le le le,
		Tell me one more time.
		That you'll live,
		Lost in my eyes.
		Whenever, wherever,
		We're meant to be together
I'll be there and you'll be near,
And that's the deal my dear

		Thereover, hereunder,
You've got me head over heals
		There's nothing left to fear,
If you really feel the way I feel
