  • As performed by Robert Palmer, (born Alan Palmer 1/19/49, died in 9/26/03 of a heart attack at the age of 54)
  • As the son of a British serviceman, Palmer was raised on the island of Malta, returning to Great Britain when he was 10 years old
  • He joined his first band when he was 15 years old
  • In 1985 he joined forces with band members from Duran Duran and Chic to form the group "Power Station", named after a New York City recording studio
  • He was with the band only a year, recording two hits, but unwilling to tour with the band
  • After leaving Power station he recorded the album "Riptide"
  • The song became a # 1 Top 40 and Album Rock hit in 1986
  • Addicted to Love only reached #5 on the charts in the UK
  • Palmer had nine Top 40 solo hits during his career
  • Addicted to Love was his third hit, and the only #1 of his career as a solo artist
