"Footloose" starring Kevin Bacon & Lori Singer. Also
appearing in the movie are Dianne Wiest (from TV's "Law and
Order"), and Sarah Jessica Parker, (from the TV series "Sex
and the City")
- The soundtrack album for Footloose was the #1 album
in the country for 10 weeks in 1984
- The song was a #7 Billboard Top 40 hit in 1984
- It also hit #1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary
chart
- The story of the original Rena / Wilson recording
session is an interesting one. Due to the hectic touring
schedule of both artists, only one day could be found where both
artists were available to record the vocal track. Reno's plane landed
from Canada just before a storm closed the airport, and Wilson arrived
late, after coming straight from the hospital, where she had gone
after suffering a fall which broke her wrist. She refused any
serious pain killers which would have affected her voice, so she
played on a broken wrist with nothing stronger than Tylenol and a beer
