- The song Always was written and
		originally performed by Atlantic Starr

        - Written by brothers Jonathan Lewis, David Lewis, and
Wayne Lewis, all members of the band

		- The band Atlantic
		Starr was formed
in 1976 in White Plains New York

		- The band had only
been performing locally around the northeast for a couple of years when
they were discovered and signed to a record contract with A&M records

		- They were
considered to be in the mold of the extremely popular crossover artists
Earth Wind & Fire and The Commodores

        - "Always"
was a #1 chart topper on the Billboard Hot 100
		chart in 1987

        - It also hit #1 on the R&B charts as well as the
          adult Contemporary chart

		- The song also
charted in the UK, rising to #3 on the charts there

		- Ironically, the
song had been written back in 1982 and was intended for one of their
earlier releases, but their record producer at the time didn't think it
fit with other songs they were producing, and so it was shelved until
1987, when it was released on the album "All In The Name of Love", their
		seventh album release

		- It was the second
single to be released from that album

		- Always remains
their only #1 hit, although they have reached the charts with no fewer
than 23 songs making it into either the Hot 100 or the Hot R&B singles
		charts

		- Although the band
has seen numerous personnel changes over the years, it remains together
and the original brothers Wayne and Jonathan Lewis continue to tour
		together

		- Always was covered
in 2000 by a band called Boyz n Girlz United, consisting of 4 members
(two male; two female) Robbie Carrico, Daniel Dix, Rina Mayo, and Criss
		Ruiz

		- They were molded in
the Backstreet Boys / 'NSync image, and in spite of some early good
press pretty much died out after their initial album release

		- Carrico appeared on American Idol
in Season 7 but was quickly eliminated

		- It is somewhat unusual that a song
that is so popular, and that has retained it popularity over the course
of two decades has not been covered by more mainstream artists

        - The song became an
instant hit for a first dance at weddings and anniversary parties, and
has been entrenched in the repertoire of just about every wedding band
		for over 20 years now

		Song Lyrics - Always
Girl you are to me
All that a woman should be
And I dedicate my life to you,
Always
A love like yours is rare
It must have been sent from up above
And I know you'll stay this way,
		For always
And we both know
That our love will grow
And forever it will be
You and me
		Ooh, You're like the sun
Chasing all the rain away
When you come around
You bring brighter days
You're the perfect one for me
And you forever will be
And I will love you so,
		For always
Come with me my sweet
Let's go make a family
And they will bring us joy
For always
Oh boy I love you so
Can't find enough ways to let you know
But you can be sure I'm yours,
		For always
And we both know
That our love will grow
And forever it will be
You and me
		Ooh, You're like the sun
Chasing all the rain away
When you come around
You bring brighter days
You're the perfect one for me
And you forever will be
And I will love you so,
		For always
