- Robert Bell (AKA "Kool") on bass (born 10/8/50 in
Youngstown, Ohio)
- Ronald Bell on tenor saxophone (born 11/1/51,
also in Youngstown)
- James "J.T." Taylor on lead vocals (born 8/16/53
in Laurens, South Carolina)
- George Brown on drums (born 1/5/49)
- Robert Mickens on trumpet
- Dennis Thomas on alto saxophone
- Claydes Charles Smith on guitar (born 9/6/48 &
died 6/20/2006 after a long illness)
- Earl Toon on keyboards
- In 1980 it hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart
- It was also a #1 hit on the Billboard R&B chart for
six weeks
- Of the 22 Top 40 hits Kool & The Gang charted between
1973 and 1987, this was the only one to reach #1
- One of the all time favorite party songs, especially
at weddings
