  • Written in 1951 by Mack David and Louigay
  • It was used in the 1955 movie "Underwater" starring Jane Russell
  • The first recording of the song was performed by Perez Prado (born Damaso Perez Prado 12/11/16 in Mantanzas Cuba and died of a stroke on 9/14/89 in Mexico City, Mexico)
  • Prado was known as "The King Of Mambo"
  • It was and remains the all-time biggest instrumental of the last 50 years, it was on the charts for 26 weeks and held the #1 spot for 10 weeks in 1955

  • This version went to #14 on the charts
  • Dale was a pop singer who hosted his own TV show in 1951, back in the earliest days of television
  • Oracle Band performs this song as an instrumental cha-cha, reminiscent of Perez Prado's original version

Song Lyrics - Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White

It's cherry pink and apple blossom white
When your true lover comes your way
It's cherry pink and apple blossom white
The poets say

The story goes that once a cherry tree
Beside an apple tree did grow,
And there a boy once met his bride to be
Long, long ago

The boy looked into her eyes
It was a feat to enthrall
The breezes started their sighs
The blossoms started to fall
And, as they gently caressed
The lovers looked up to find
The branches of the two trees
Were intertwined

And so that's why the poets often write
When there's a new moon up above
It's cherry pink and apple blossom white
When you're in love
