Pink Cadillac

Originally written and performed by Bruce Springsteen in 1984
Despite it's popularity, the song never made it into the Top 40
A 1988 remake by Natalie Cole hit # 5 on the top 40 charts
Contrary to what a lot of people believe, Aretha Franklin never covered the song

Well now you may think I'm foolish, for the foolish things I do,
You may wonder how come I love ya, when you get on my nerves like you do,
Well baby you know you bug me, there ain't no secret 'bout that,
But come on over here and hug me, baby I'll spell the facts,
Well honey it ain't your money, 'cause baby I've got plenty of that,

I love you for your pink Cadillac,
Crushed velvet seats,
Ridin' in the back,
Cruisin' down the street,
Wavin' to the girls,
Peelin' outta sight,
Spendin' all my money on a Saturday night,
Honey I just wonder what you do there in the back of your
Pink Cadillac, Pink Cadillac.

Well now way back in the bible, temptations always come along,
There's always somebody tempted, somebody into doing,
Something that they know is wrong.
They'll tempt you man with silver, and they'll tempt you sir with gold,
And they'll tempt you with the pleasures, that the flesh does surely hold.
They say Eve tempted Adam with an apple, but now I ain't goin' for that...

I know it was a Pink Cadillac
Crushed velvet seats,
Ridin' in the back,
Cruisin' down the street,
Wavin' to the girls,
Peelin' outta sight,
Spendin' all my money on a Saturday night,
Honey I just wonder what you do there in the back of your
Pink Cadillac, Pink Cadillac.

Well now some folks say that it's too big, uses too much gas,
Some folks say it's too old, and it goes too fast,
But my love is better in a Honda, yeah it's better in a Subaru,
And there is only one thing, only one car that'll do,
Anyway, we don't have to drive it, honey we can park it out back,

And have a party in you Pink Cadillac,
Crushed velvet seats,
Ridin' in the back,
Cruisin' down the street,
Wavin' to the girls,
Peelin' outta sight,
Spendin' all my money on a Saturday night,
Honey I just wonder what you do there in the back of your
Pink Cadillac, Pink Cadillac.
