Pascagoula Mississippi)
- Buffett's backup band is called the Coral Reefer

- After graduating from college Buffett worked for
Billboard Magazine in Nashville Tennessee.
- While working for Billboard he broke the story of
the breakup of the popular bluegrass team of Flatt & Scruggs
- Performing only about 20-30 times a year (usually on
Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays), Buffett concert tickets typically
sell out in minutes. He remains one of the top box office draws of
any touring artist.
- Buffett now calls Key West Florida his home, and his
laid back style of music has been dubbed "Gulf and Western"
- Margaritaville was a #8 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles
chart in 1977
- The song also hit #1 on the Billboard Magazine Adult Contemporary chart
- An anthem for all parrotheads, (Jimmy Buffet fans), it is also the name of
a chain of stores and cafe's opened by Buffett
- It was the first
song released as a single from the album "Changes in Latitudes Changes in Attitudes
 "
- It is by far the most recognizable song in all of
Jimmy Buffett's repertoire, and is loved throughout the world
