You've Lost That Lovin Feeling - Song Lyrics

  • Originally performed by The Righteous Brothers
  • Written by the husband and wife songwriting team of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, at the request of Phil Spector, who produced the song and contributed to the writing of the bridge
  • Mann & Weill also wrote the hits "Blame It On The Bossa Nova" done by Eydie Gorme, and "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place" done by The Animals
  • It was the first Top 40 hit for the Righteous Brothers, it reached #1 on the charts for two weeks in 1964
  • The song was used in the 1986 movie Top Gun, where Tom Cruise sings it in a bar to Kelly McGillis
  • According to BMI this song was played more times on the radio than any other song of the 20th century.  It has been spun more than 7 million times since its release
  • The Righteous Brothers were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, and performed it at the induction ceremonies. Ironically, Phil Spector was arrested on murder charges just a few weeks before the ceremony.
  • The song was covered by Dionne Warwick in 1969, and her version went to # 16 on the Top 40 charts
  • In 1980 Hall & Oats covered the song, taking it to # 12 on the charts
  • It was also covered by Elvis Presley in 1970 and Neil Diamond in 1993, but neither of these versions managed to crack the Top 40

You never close your eyes anymore
When I kiss your lips
And there's no tenderness like before
In your fingertips
You're trying hard not to show it (baby)
But baby, baby I know it

You've lost that lovin' feelin'
Woah, that lovin' feelin'
You've lost that lovin' feelin'
Now it's gone, gone, gone woah

Now there's no welcome look in your eyes
When I reach for you
And you've started to criticize
All the little things I do
It makes me feel like crying
Cause baby' something beautiful's dying

You've lost that lovin' feelin'
Woah, that lovin' feelin'
You've lost that lovin' feelin'
Now it's gone, gone, gone, woah

Baby, baby
I'd get down on my knees for you
If you'd only love me
Like the way you used to do
We had a love, a love
A love you don't find every day
So don't, don't, don't
Please don't take it away

Baby (baby)
Baby (baby)
I need your love (I need your love)
I need your love (ooooh)
Bring it on back (ooooh)
Bring it on back

Bring back that lovin' feelin'
Woah, that lovin' feelin'
Bring back that lovin' feelin'
Before it's gone, gone, gone
And I can't go on, woah

You've lost that lovin' feelin'
Woah, that lovin' feelin'
You've lost that lovin' feelin
Now it's gone, gone, gone, woah
