Whispers Restaurant Performances

The year started out with more snow than this area had seen in over 100 years.

With snow still piled high alongside the roads, every performance came with a question mark...would people venture out on the roads?

Our first performance of the year at Whispers Restaurant in Glen Burnie quickly answered the question...folks were ready to get out and PARTY!

The performances at Whispers from February through June were extremely well attended, and it was gratifying to see so many familiar faces come out every time we performed there to join in the fun.

Of course we were also thrilled to make lots of new friends, and our spirits were buoyed as we watched our FaceBook fan list continue to grow right alongside our Newsletter Subscription list.

Return to Post 40 for Shrimp Feast Fundraiser

In April Oracle returned to the American Legion Post 40 in Glen Burnie for a shrimp feast fundraiser.

All-you-can-eat shrimp???  YEAH!!!  Couple that with four hours of partying out on the dance floor and you have a recipe for the perfect evening!

Oracle is always eager to help support the American Legion whenever they hold a fundraiser, and it is to the credit of our fans that we typically sell out each and every performance.

It is an opportunity for all of us to say thank you to the men & women who have defended our country.

Oracle Performs for LA Singles in Bowie

On the last day of April Oracle performed for the LA Singles group in Bowie.

LA Singles (Loving Again) has been in existence for many years and is one of the largest singles organizations in the entire Baltimore / DC area.

We had been hearing about the group for quite some time, and the response we received on this debut evening was overwhelming.  There was a line out the door waiting to get in...the place was full to capacity!

Following on the success we were immediately invited back to what we hope will be a very long and mutually satisfying relationship.

Columbian Center Fund Raiser Dance

On May 1st Oracle returned to the Columbian Center (Knights of Columbus) in Severna Park for the second of our three performances there for 2010.

This was a benefit for the facility, and we got a huge turnout, including a significant showing from the local Filipino community.

We got to pull a lot of classic dance songs as there were a number of ballroom dance folks in attendance, as well as plenty of line dancers.  We learned some new line dances that evening!

Mother's Day Weekend
Bull Roast at
Gambrills Athletic Club

Since 2005 Oracle has been performing a Mother's Day weekend Bull Roast at Gambrills Athletic Club in Gambrills Maryland.

The event is a fund raiser for the club, and the huge facility is a joy to perform in, with 400+ people able to come join the party.

The event was sold out three months in advance, with the phone ringing off the hook the last week or so from people asking if they could get some tickets.

In addition to the band, the food at these events is simply exceptional.  These guys really know how to do a bull roast, with pit-beef, sausages, turkey....it makes us hungry just thinking about it!

If you get a chance please try and attend one of our other upcoming performances at Gambrills.  You will not regret it!!!

American Legion Post 195 Halethorpe Welcomes Oracle

Along around the middle of May Oracle was invited to perform for another American Legion, Post 195 in Halethorpe near Baltimore.

We were welcomed with open arms, and we really did appreciate the warm reception.

The dinner / dance was a successful fundraiser for the post, and helped set the bar for future performances.

Opening Day at Baltimore Yacht Club

May also brings with it one of the great traditions of the warmer months...the Yacht Club Opening Weekend parties!

On Memorial Day weekend we returned to Baltimore Yacht Club for the final day of their opening weekend.

As always the party went long and strong, and after playing an hour of overtime folks were still going strong!

Josh & Lea - 6/5/2010

Weddings are always a big part of the Oracle schedule, and in June we were so happy to play at Josh & Lea's wedding at Turf Valley Country Club in Ellicott City Maryland.

It was such a fun evening, and the family and friends that were there to wish the newlywed couple all the best spent much of the evening out on the dance floor celebrating.

What is so much fun about weddings is that the first few hours of a newlywed couple's married life is nothing but one REALLY big PARTY!

Congratulations to Josh & Lea as they begin their lives together as husband and wife.

Knopp Farm Picnic Company Picnic

It was a bright, sunny, and oh yes...hot day, but that wasn't enough to keep the folks at Knopps Farm in Severn from throwing one heck of a great picnic!

The one thing that stood out to all the band members most of all were the kids that had their eyes glued to the stage as they watched our every move. 

As we got them more and more involved, but offering tambourines, maracas, and even a chance  to sing some of the songs they knew, it was really gratifying to watch their faces beaming, and the faces of their parents as they nodded their approval as they danced along.

Montpelier Mansion Concert

For the first time in the 32 year history of the concert series at Montpelier Mansion in Laurel Maryland a band was asked to return for an encore performance.

That band in question is, of course, Oracle, and we were honored to be asked to return.

Last year the weather was somewhat threatening and the crowd was somewhat smaller than usual, but for 2010 the sky was sunny and the concertgoers came out in force to enjoy the scenery and the music.
