75,000 Catch Oracle Performance at Laurel Lakes

On Saturday, July 3rd Oracle performed for their largest audience of the year, estimated at over 75,000 people, at the annual City of Laurel Independence Day Concert & Fireworks.

What can you say when you look out on a field filled with tens of thousands of appreciative fans?  It really is a rush, and to hear that many people getting into the concert...well, it's what we became musicians for.

Check out the photos from the day.  We had to put them on two web pages there were so many fun shots!

Headed for the Beach!

In July the band hit the road in a manner of speaking, heading out to Lewes Delaware to play at one of Nikki's best friends wedding.  Jennifer looked radiant and Nikki found herself doing double duty, as bridesmaid and as entertainment.

Graduation Dance at Columbian Center

It was a celebration of cultures as Oracle performed for a Filipino graduation party near the end of July.

Anyone that thinks that teens don't appreciate live music should have been here to see the dance floor PACKED with dancers!

Return to LA Singles

The next to last day of July found Oracle back with the great folks at LA singles.  It was hotter than all get out outside, but inside these folks were ready to DANCE!

It seems word had spread about our previous visit and the folks were lined up as soon as the door opened so people could get a seat.  The room filled quickly and the dance floor was hopping from start to finish!

Oracle Returns to
American Legion Post 175

August was one VERY busy month for the band, kicking off with a performance upstairs at the American Legion Post 175 in Severna Park.

Oracle at IBEW Picnic Camp Letts

On the first Saturday of August Oracle was invited to perform for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 26 picnic out at Camp Letts in Edgewater Maryland.

In addition to performing for over 1000 appreciative picnicers, were were also honored to have the Governor of Maryland Martin O'Malley join us on stage for a few songs.  We were unaware that he has a wonderful singing voice and is a very good guitar player.

It was fun to put politics aside and enjoy making some music with Governor O'Malley, who we found to be a friendly and personable musician.

City of Laurel Summer Concert At Laurel Lakes

August was a busy month for the band.  The 2nd weekend found us performing back at Laurel Lakes, as part of the Laurel Parks & Recreation Summer Concert Series.

We've been performing for this concert series since 2002, and every year is unique and special.  The one thing that is consistent throughout all of these concerts are the children who come up to the stage, watch with unabashed fascination, dance like nobody's watching, and come up to the stage following the performance with all sorts of questions and stories to tell us.

Anne Arundel Gridiron Club Rebels Youth Bull Roast

The day after our Laurel Concert Oracle was once again setting up for yet another performance marking the 50th anniversary of the Anne Arundel Gridiron Club Rebels Football team at La Fontaine Bleue in Glen Burnie.

A 50th Anniversary is really something to be celebrated, but the celebration was dampened somewhat by the news that someone had broken in and stolen over $20,000 of football gear from their facility.

The folks at La Fontaine Bleue were impressed by the band as well.  In fact, they liked us so well they hired us to be part of their New Years Eve Celebration to welcome 2011.

Filipino-American Debutante Ball

Culture and class are still present in today's society, and you can see that embodied in the young faces at the Filipino-American Association Debutante Ball that was held at the BWI Hilton.

A spectacularly choreographed formal waltz set to "Tales of the Vienna Woods" held everyone's attention as these young ladies & gentlemen twirled and glided their way around the dance floor, and the look of pleasure in their faces showed that it wasn't just an act for their parents...they really loved what they were doing.

Of course they were equally at home later on dancing to Lady GaGa, Kei$ha, and Shakira!

These folks could dance to anything, and had line dances that many of us had never seen before! What a great night!

Baltimore Yacht Club
Labor Day Weekend

The folks at Baltimore Yacht Club are ALWAYS ready for a party, but Labor Day weekend always has an especially great turnout.

We love these guys!

American Legion Post 175 Severna Park

It was perhaps a precursor of things to come.  The folks at the Legion had decided that the upstairs was just so crowded when we played up in the lounge that we would try playing in the large downstairs party room

It was an excellent decision as there was now PLENTY of room for everyone, without tripping over each other on the dance floor.

It avoided the "mosh pit" feel of old, with everyone having plenty of room to strut their stuff!

It was such a success it is likely we will continue to perform in the downstairs room from here on out, as long as we can draw a crowd that is!

Luau Dance @ Columbian Center

In what we hope becomes a yearly tradition, Oracle visited the Columbian Center in Severna Park for the fourth time in 2010 to participate in a fundraising Luau for the Knights of Columbus.

St John Singles - Columbia

On September 24th the band returned for the second of our performances for the St. John's Singles in Columbia.  The huge room was pretty much at capacity, and we were thrilled to see so many familiar faces.

American Legion Post 195 - Halethorpe

The end of September found the band back at American Legion Post 195 in Halethorpe for a return visit.

Much larger crowd...a sell out this time.  Word must have finally gotten out that when Oracle is there it's gonna be a PARTY!
